Learning objectives

What the syllabus expects you to be able to do.

  1. 11.2.1Recognise quarks as fundamental, with six flavours.
  2. 11.2.2Recall the charges of each quark flavour and that antiquarks have the opposite charge.
  3. 11.2.3Describe protons and neutrons by their quark composition.
  4. 11.2.4Classify hadrons as baryons (three quarks) or mesons (quark and antiquark).
  5. 11.2.5Describe the quark changes in β⁻ and β⁺ decay.
  6. 11.2.6Recall that electrons and neutrinos are leptons.
