Learning objectives
What the syllabus expects you to be able to do.
- 5.3.3.1Form 2: differentiate sexual from asexual reproduction, state their advantages and disadvantages, describe pollination of maize and bean flowers and fertilisation, and explain methods of asexual reproduction.
- 5.3.3.2Form 2: state the requirements for germination, differentiate germination from emergence and identify the parts of maize and bean seeds.
- 5.3.3.3Form 3: describe the absorption of water by osmosis and by seeds, nutrient uptake by active uptake, the transpiration stream, the role of stomata, wilting and the factors affecting transpiration.
- 5.3.3.4Form 3: describe photosynthesis and state its word and chemical equations.
- 5.3.3.5Form 3: explain translocation, identify plant food storage organs and state the nature of the food stored.
- 5.3.3.6Form 4: state the equation for aerobic respiration, distinguish aerobic from anaerobic respiration, identify its sites and importance, and compare respiration with photosynthesis.
- 5.3.3.7Form 4: describe and demonstrate plant tropisms and evaluate their importance.
