About this syllabus
The ZIMSEC O-Level History syllabus (Forms 1-4) develops a historical view of Zimbabwe, Africa and the wider world. It starts with the nature and sources of history, human origins and ancient Egypt, then follows Zimbabwean societies from the Stone Age to the Great Zimbabwe, Mutapa, Rozvi and Ndebele states, the slave trade, early Portuguese and missionary contacts, colonisation and resistance, colonial administration, nationalism and the armed struggle, and developments since independence. Regional and international history covers the world wars and the inter-war period, the Cold War, socialist revolutions in Russia, China and Cuba, regional and international organisations, and the Constitution, democracy and human rights.
