Overview

Form 4.

Learning objectives

What the syllabus expects you to be able to do.

  1. 11.3.1Explain the flow of current in a circuit and use I = Q/t.
  2. 11.3.2Measure current and potential difference with ammeters and voltmeters.
  3. 11.3.3Define potential difference and use the fact that the p.d.s in a series circuit add up to the total.
  4. 11.3.4State and apply Ohm's law and state its limitations.
  5. 11.3.5Describe an experiment to find resistance with a voltmeter and an ammeter.
  6. 11.3.6Sketch and interpret V-I graphs for ohmic and non-ohmic conductors.
  7. 11.3.7Use the relationship between resistance, length and cross-sectional area, R = ρl/A.
