The A Level adds two options from Paper 3 Global Environments (tropical, coastal, hazardous and arid environments) and two from Paper 4 Global Themes (climate change impacts and governance; environmental issues and management; trade, aid and tourism; disease and geography), with resource-based and evaluative essay skills and detailed specific examples throughout.
How you are assessed
AS Level candidates take Paper 1 Physical Geography and Paper 2 Human Geography (each 1 hour 30 minutes, 60 marks: Section A three 15-mark structured questions, Section B one 15-mark essay from three). A Level candidates also take Paper 3 Global Environments and Paper 4 Global Themes (each 1 hour 30 minutes, 60 marks: two chosen topics, each with a compulsory 10-mark structured question and one 20-mark essay from two), either in the same series or later, carrying forward their AS result.
